Functional Brain Mapping and Neuromodulation

About the position
Expand your career and knowledge in clinical neuroscience. We have a part-time or full-time position for a clinical and research Functional Brain Mapping and Neuromodulation technician with a background or experience in functional brain imaging, neuromodulation, neuropsychometry or clinical neuroscience. Functional brain mapping procedures mainly include fMRI and QEEG/LORETA. Other procedures such as DTI and NeuroQuant are also performed. Expertise or experience in one or both of these brain mapping modalities is preferred, but we are willing to train candidates that have a strong neuroscience background in related fields such as neuropsychometry or EEG/ERPs. Likewise experience in at least one neuromodulation intervention, which include EEG Neurofeedback, tDCS, tRNS, and tACS, as well as, rTMS is also preferred, but in-house training is available. This position offers a blend of clinical and research related responsibilities. The specific clinical and research duties are dependent on the skill set and experience of the candidate. Generalized duties require standardized administration of functional cortical (neuropsychological) testing both during and separate from the brain mapping appointment. In addition to performing brain imaging with children, adolescents and adults, you will also perform neuromodulaton interventions with patients. We realize that one candidate will not likely meet all the requirements for this position. For qualified candidates who have a neuroscience background we offer additional training in all aspects of this position which include: administration and scoring of functional neuropsychological tests, as well as, training on brain imaging techniques and brain mapping software; report preparation; and neuromodulation interventions. Part-time technicians typically cover 1-2 clinic locations and full-time technicians are responsibility for coverage of a geographical region either north or south NJ. Busiest hours at our clinics are from 10 am to 7 pm Monday - Friday and 10 am - 4 pm on Saturdays. We have both onsite and off-site brain mapping facilities.
At least a bachelors or preferably a masters level neuroscience related degree with clinical or research experience in neuroimaging and/or neuromodulation. The position can be modified or expanded for Neuroscience related Ph.D. applicants who want to apply for this opening who have fellowship training in functional neuroimaging and non-invasive brain stimulation. The functional neuroimaging Ph.D. position, and Master of Science candidates require management level responsibilities overseeing the neuroimaging lab, analyzing and preparing brain mapping reports on patients, as well as, contributing (at least 20% allocation) to ongoing research protocols. Research responsibilities also include developing protocols for new research projects within functional braining and neuromodulation. In depth knowledge of MATLABS or open source fMRI and Non-invasive brain stimulation modeling software is required such as PYTHON. Experience assessing or treating patients with psychiatric, neurobehavioral and neuropsychiatric disorders would be a plus. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills also required. A minimum 2 year commitment is needed if training is provided by NCI.

A competitive base salary based on experience and educational level with attractive incentives as part of the overall reimbursement package. Other reimbursement options include part and full-time contracts. Quarterly incentive bonuses are also offered for both W2 and 1099 Contractors. The northern and NJ shore regions are highly desirable geographical location offering easy access to beautiful beaches, NYC, Atlantic City and Philadelphia. This position is accompanied by a faculty position at Rutgers New Jersey Medical school; formerly RWJMS, Department of Neurology or Psychiatry. Depending on regional location; clinical appointments will include one or more of the following medical center healthcare systems: Atlantic Health; Barnabas Health; St. Clare's, and St. Luke's.
