The Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (PI: Maital Neta, http://psychology.unl.edu/can-lab/) invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant/Lab Manager (start date negotiable). The lab is funded in part by the NIMH, and uses a variety of neuroimaging (fMRI, resting state fMRI) and psychophysiological techniques (EMG,GSR) to study the cognitive and neural basis of social decision-making.
The RA will gain experience with all aspects of the research process, which could serve as a launch pad to graduate studies. Primary responsibilities will include: (1) data acquisition using behavioral, psychophysiological, and brain imaging techniques; (2) management of datasets; (3) subject recruitment and screening; (4) manuscript and data preparation; and (5) managing the lab and performing administrative duties.
The position is designed for an individual with a Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, cognitive science, engineering, or related fields. Strong technical skills are required, including competence in several programming environments. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Google docs/calendar is necessary, and familiarity with programs such as Eprime, SPSS, R, Matlab, Python, AFNI, SPM, FSL, and Unix is especially valued but not required and otherwise would be learned on the job. Also, the following experience is highly desired but not required: Experience with skin conductance, eye tracking and/or fMRI data acquisition and analysis; coursework or practical application of statistics; experience with IRB documentation; accounts management. An ability to work independently with good judgment and good organizational and time management skills is also desirable.
The lab is housed in the Center for Brain, Biology, & Behavior at UNL (http://cb3.unl.edu/), which has a state-of-the-art Brain Imaging Center and a 3T MRI scanner dedicated for research. Beyond having access to the scanner, the postdoctoral fellow will also have access to with EEG/ERP, EMG, GSR, eye-tracking (all of which can be measured both in and out of the MRI scanner), as well as several other cutting-edge techniques.
